    Zainab's Favorite Stall

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Zainab walked to the road-side food stall after work. It was a warm evening. The stall was small but very busy. Many people were standing near it. The smell of food was strong and good. Zainab loved this stall. She came here often. She knew the man who worked there. His name was Omar. Omar always smiled at her. Zainab looked at the menu on the board. There were many things to choose from. She already knew what she wanted. She wanted the grilled vegetables with rice. It was her favorite meal.

Zainab's friend, Leila, was with her. Leila had never been to this stall before. She looked at the menu board. She did not know what to order. "What is good here?" Leila asked. "Everything is good," said Zainab, "but you must try the grilled vegetables." Leila looked at the board again. "Are they spicy?" she asked. "No, they are not spicy," said Zainab. "They are soft and full of flavor." Leila smiled. "OK," she said, "I will try them." Zainab was happy. She liked to help her friend. Omar took their order. He wrote it down on a small piece of paper. They waited near the stall. The food came quickly.

Omar put the plates on the counter. "Here you are," he said. Leila looked at her plate. The vegetables looked beautiful. They were yellow, red, and green. She took her first bite. Her eyes went wide. "This is really good!" she said. "I told you!" said Zainab, and she laughed. They ate together and talked. Leila finished all her food. "I will come back here," said Leila. "I am glad," said Zainab. "This place is special to me." They both felt happy. It was a lovely evening at the stall.

    A Dish Worth Sharing

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Zainab arrived at her favorite road-side food stall just as the evening crowd was beginning to gather. The air was thick with the scent of grilling vegetables and warm spices, and the sound of sizzling filled the narrow street. She had been coming to this stall for months and felt completely at ease there. Behind the counter stood Omar, the stall's cheerful owner, who greeted her with a familiar nod. Zainab's friend Leila had joined her that evening, though she looked slightly overwhelmed by the handwritten menu board that hung crookedly above the counter. Leila's eyes moved slowly across the list of dishes, and she pressed her lips together in uncertainty. "I honestly don't know where to start," she admitted. Zainab stepped closer and pointed to the dish she always ordered.

"If you only try one thing tonight, make it the grilled vegetables with rice," she said confidently. "They're not spicy at all, but they're incredibly well-seasoned and the texture is perfect." Leila raised an eyebrow, not entirely convinced. "Are you sure? There are so many other options," she replied, scanning the board once more. Zainab smiled and placed their order with Omar before Leila could change her mind. While they waited, Zainab explained that she had once tried nearly every item on the menu, but the grilled vegetables had won her over completely. "You'll understand once you taste them," she added. When Omar set the plates on the counter, Leila leaned forward and studied her dish carefully before taking a cautious first bite.

Her expression changed almost immediately. "Oh, that's genuinely delicious," she said, sounding pleasantly surprised. Zainab laughed quietly. "I was hoping you'd say that." They stood side by side at the counter, eating and chatting as the street buzzed with activity around them. By the time Leila had finished the last of her rice, she was already asking Omar whether the stall opened every day. "I'll definitely be coming back," she said, turning to Zainab with a grateful smile. Zainab felt a quiet sense of satisfaction, the kind that only comes from sharing something you truly love with someone you care about.
