    Yuki's Moment of Preparation

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Yuki, a second-year university student, has been looking forward to this day with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Her research group has been invited to present their project findings to a panel that includes senior professors, and the pressure to perform well is very real. She rises early, takes her time choosing professional-looking clothes, and eats a light breakfast to settle her nerves. As she glances at her reflection in the mirror, she reminds herself of how much work she has put into this project. She feels a quiet sense of determination growing inside her. With her bag packed and her printed report tucked neatly inside, she heads out across the sunlit campus towards the library. She wants to use the last hour before the meeting to refine her ideas and make sure every detail is in order. Inside the library, Yuki settles at her favorite table by the window and spreads her notes out in front of her.

She reads through her section of the report twice, pausing to underline key points and jot down a few additional ideas in the margins. While she is reviewing the third page, she notices a formatting error that could look unprofessional, and she corrects it carefully with a pen. Her classmate Mia arrives shortly after and takes a seat across from her. "You look focused," Mia says with a reassuring smile. "I've been going over everything since this morning," Yuki admits. "I just want to make sure I can explain our findings clearly." Mia nods, adding, "You know this project better than anyone." Yuki closes her notebook, feeling more confident and ready. Yuki arrives at the meeting room a few minutes ahead of schedule, giving herself time to arrange her materials and take a few slow, calming breaths. The professors enter together, exchanging brief greetings with the students before settling into their seats.

When it is Yuki's turn to present, she speaks in a measured, steady voice, guiding the panel through her section of the research with clarity and confidence. One professor leans forward and asks a follow-up question, and Yuki answers it thoughtfully, drawing on details she had reviewed that very morning. "That was an impressively thorough response," the professor remarks. After the meeting concludes, Yuki steps out into the open air of the campus, a warm sense of accomplishment washing over her. She sends Mia a quick message: "We did it. All that preparation really paid off."
