    Rosa and the Wrong Booking

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Rosa wanted to take her two children to a children's play area. She made a booking online the week before. She chose a time on Saturday morning. She paid for two children and one adult. She was very excited about the visit. Her children talked about it every day. On Saturday, Rosa got the children ready early. They put on comfortable clothes and shoes. Rosa checked her phone for the booking details. She saw the confirmation message. Everything looked fine. They got into the car and drove to the play area. The children were very happy. They could not wait to play.

Rosa arrived at the play area and went to the front desk. She showed her booking confirmation to the woman there. The woman looked at the screen and frowned. "I am sorry, but your booking is for Sunday, not Saturday," the woman said. Rosa was surprised. She looked at her phone again. The woman was right. Rosa had made a mistake with the day. "Oh no, I am so sorry," Rosa said. "Is there any space for us today?" The woman checked the computer. "We are very busy today," the woman said. "There is a long waiting list." Rosa felt worried. Her children were looking at the play equipment with big eyes. Rosa asked politely, "Is there anything you can do to help us?" The woman thought for a moment.

"Let me check again," she said. She typed something on the computer. "A family just canceled their booking," the woman said with a smile. "You can have their place." Rosa was so happy. "Thank you very much!" she said. The woman changed the booking on the computer. Rosa's children ran to the play area. They climbed and jumped and laughed. Rosa sat down and watched them play. She felt very relieved. She decided to always check her bookings twice. It was a good day after all.

    Rosa's Booking Mix-Up

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Rosa had been planning a fun Saturday outing for her two children at the local children's play area. She had made the booking online several days in advance, carefully selecting a morning slot that would suit the whole family. When Saturday morning arrived, the children were buzzing with excitement, barely able to eat their breakfast before rushing to get ready. Rosa gathered their things, double-checked the address, and drove to the play area feeling confident that everything was in order. The car park was already quite full when they arrived, which made Rosa a little nervous. She held her children's hands as they walked towards the entrance, their eyes wide with anticipation. At the front desk, she smiled and pulled up the booking confirmation on her phone, ready to begin what she hoped would be a wonderful morning.

The receptionist studied the screen for a few seconds before looking up with an apologetic expression. "I am afraid there has been a mix-up," she said gently. "Your booking is actually scheduled for tomorrow, not today." Rosa felt her stomach drop as she rechecked the confirmation on her phone, and sure enough, the date read Sunday. She had been so focused on choosing the right time that she had accidentally selected the wrong day. "We are fully booked this morning, and there is already a waiting list," the receptionist explained, noticing the disappointment on the children's faces. Rosa took a deep breath and tried to stay calm, knowing that getting upset would not solve the problem. She wondered whether there was any possibility of squeezing her family in, so she decided to ask rather than simply walk away.

"I completely understand that you are busy, but would it be possible to check if anything has opened up?" Rosa asked in a friendly but hopeful tone. The receptionist nodded and began scrolling through the system, pausing when something caught her eye. "You are in luck," she announced. "A group of four has just canceled their session, so I can offer you their slot if you would like it." Rosa accepted immediately, feeling a wave of relief wash over her as the receptionist updated the booking. Within minutes, her children had taken off their shoes and were climbing, sliding, and laughing with the other children in the play area. Rosa settled into a seat nearby and reflected on how differently the morning could have turned out. She made a mental note to review every detail of future bookings more carefully, grateful that a small stroke of luck had saved the day.
