    Ravi Helps a Colleague

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Ravi worked at a big supermarket. He started work every morning at eight o'clock. He liked his job very much. He always smiled at the customers. He was kind and helpful to everyone. One morning, Ravi arrived at the supermarket early. He put on his uniform and went to his section. His section was the fruit and vegetable area. He began to arrange the apples and oranges on the shelves. The supermarket was quiet at first. Then more and more customers came inside. Ravi worked quickly and carefully. He wanted everything to look nice and tidy. He felt happy to be at work. Ravi saw his colleague, Mia, near the checkout area.

Mia looked worried. She was carrying a very large box. The box was heavy and difficult to hold. Mia tried to put the box on a high shelf. But the shelf was too high for her. She could not reach it. Ravi walked over to her quickly. "Are you okay?" he asked. "I need help," said Mia. "This box is very heavy and I cannot reach the shelf." Ravi smiled at her. "No problem," he said. "I will help you." Ravi took one side of the box. Mia held the other side. Together, they lifted the box up slowly and carefully. They put it on the shelf without any trouble.

Mia felt very happy. "Thank you so much, Ravi," she said. "You are very kind." Ravi smiled again. "We are a team," he said. "We always help each other." After that, Mia helped Ravi too. She helped him carry some heavy bags of rice to his section. They worked together for the rest of the morning. The manager of the supermarket saw them. He was very pleased. "Good teamwork!" he said to both of them. Ravi and Mia felt proud. At lunchtime, they sat together and ate their lunch. They talked and laughed. Ravi was glad he had helped his colleague. It was a good day at the supermarket.

A Helping Hand in Aisle Five

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Ravi had worked at the supermarket for nearly two years, and he had built a reputation for being one of the most dependable members of staff. Every morning, he arrived punctually, changed into his uniform, and made his way to the fresh produce section, where he carefully restocked the shelves before the first customers of the day arrived. He took genuine pride in his work, making sure that every item was neatly arranged and clearly labeled. On this particular Tuesday morning, the store was busier than usual, and the team was already stretched thin. Ravi moved efficiently between tasks, keeping a close eye on his colleagues as well as his own responsibilities. He had always believed that a good workplace was built on looking out for one another, not just completing your own to-do list. It was while restocking the canned goods aisle that Ravi noticed his colleague Mia struggling near the far end of the shelving unit.

She was attempting to lift a large, awkward box of stock onto one of the upper shelves, but it was clearly too heavy for one person to manage safely. Ravi set down what he was carrying and walked over without hesitation. "Let me give you a hand with that," he said, already positioning himself beside her. "Are you sure? I don't want to take you away from your work," Mia replied, looking both relieved and a little embarrassed. "It's no trouble at all," Ravi assured her with a calm smile. Together, they steadied the box and guided it onto the shelf smoothly and safely.

Mia thanked him warmly, and the two continued working alongside each other for the rest of the shift, falling into an easy rhythm that made the morning far more manageable for both of them. Their supervisor, who had observed the moment from across the aisle, made a point of mentioning it during the afternoon briefing. "That's exactly the kind of attitude we want to see," he said, nodding at both Ravi and Mia. Ravi felt a quiet sense of satisfaction, not because he had been noticed, but because he had simply done what felt right. Helping a colleague was not something he thought of as going above and beyond; for Ravi, it was just part of being a good person at work.
