    Priya's Big Interview Day

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Priya wakes up early on the day of her job interview. She feels nervous and excited at the same time. She looks at her clothes and picks a smart blue jacket. She practices saying her name clearly in the mirror. She eats a small breakfast and drinks some water. Then she checks her bag. She has her resume, a pen, and her cell phone. She leaves her apartment and takes the elevator down to the street. Outside, the city is already busy. People walk quickly on the sidewalk. Priya takes a deep breath and walks to the office building. She arrives ten minutes early. She thinks that is a good sign. She sits down in the waiting area and looks around. The office is very busy. People carry folders and talk on their phones. A woman at the front desk smiles at Priya.

"Good morning," the woman says. "Can I help you?" "Yes, thank you," Priya says. "I have an interview at ten o'clock." "Of course," the woman says. "Please take a seat. Someone will come for you soon." Priya sits down again. She reads the notes on her phone. She wants to remember her answers to common questions. After a few minutes, a man walks over to her. "Hi, I'm David," he says with a smile. "I will be your interviewer today. Are you ready?" "Yes," Priya says. "I'm ready." She stands up and follows him down a long hallway. She feels her heart beat fast, but she keeps walking. They go into a bright room with a big table. David sits across from Priya. He asks her to talk about herself. Priya speaks slowly and clearly.

She tells him about her last job. She says she worked in a team and helped customers every day. David nods and writes some notes. He asks her why she wants this job. Priya smiles. "I want to learn new things," she says. "And I want to be part of a good team." David seems happy with her answer. He asks a few more questions. Priya answers each one carefully. At the end, David shakes her hand. "Thank you, Priya," he says. "We will contact you soon." Priya thanks him and walks back to the elevator. She steps outside into the busy street. She feels tired, but she also feels proud. She did her best.

    Priya Faces the Interview Panel

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Priya arrives at the glass-fronted office building exactly ten minutes early, which she considers a small but deliberate achievement. The lobby is full of movement: sales clerks carrying folders, phones ringing at every desk, and the low hum of conversation filling the air. She checks in with the receptionist, who directs her to a row of chairs near the elevator, and sits down to review the notes she prepared the night before. Although her hands feel slightly unsteady, she reminds herself of the preparation she has put in over the past week. She had researched the company thoroughly, practiced her answers out loud in her apartment, and chosen her outfit carefully to make a professional impression. When a smartly dressed woman appears and introduces herself as the hiring manager, Priya stands up confidently and extends her hand. "It's great to meet you," Priya says.

"I've been looking forward to this." The interview takes place in a glass-walled room overlooking the busy office floor below, and the open view makes Priya feel both observed and energized. The hiring manager asks her to begin by describing her most recent role, and Priya gives a clear, structured answer that highlights her experience working with cross-functional teams. When asked about a time she dealt with a difficult situation at work, she recalls a project that had gone over schedule and explains how she reorganized the team's priorities to meet the deadline. She speaks at a measured pace, making eye contact and pausing briefly to collect her thoughts rather than rushing to fill the silence. At one point, the manager asks a question Priya did not anticipate, and instead of panicking, she takes a moment and says, "That's a great question. Could I have just a second to think about that?" The manager nods approvingly, and Priya gives a thoughtful, honest response.

As the interview draws to a close, the hiring manager leans back in her chair and asks whether Priya has any questions of her own. Priya is prepared: she asks about the team's current priorities and what success looks like in the role during the first three months. The manager seems genuinely impressed by the questions, noting that most candidates at this stage rarely think that far ahead. They shake hands, and the manager says, "We'll be in touch within the week." Priya thanks her, collects her things, and walks back through the busy office toward the elevator. Once outside on the sidewalk, she exhales slowly and allows herself a quiet smile. She knows the outcome is not yet decided, but she is certain she represented herself well, and for now, that feels like enough.
