    Priya Helps a Stranger

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Priya worked in a busy office in the city center. Every day, many people came and went through the big glass doors. Priya sat at her desk near the entrance. She answered the phone and helped her team with many tasks. She liked her job because she met new people every day. One morning, the office was very busy. Everyone was walking fast and talking loudly. The phones were ringing all the time. Priya was tired, but she smiled at everyone. She always tried to be kind, even on difficult days. It was an ordinary day, but something special was about to happen. Priya did not know it yet.

At lunchtime, Priya saw a woman standing near the door. The woman looked lost and worried. She held a piece of paper in her hand and looked around the room. Nobody stopped to help her. Everyone was too busy with their own work. Priya stood up from her desk and walked over to the woman. "Hello, can I help you?" she asked with a warm smile. The woman looked relieved. "Thank you so much," the woman said. "I have a meeting here today, but I cannot find the right room." Priya looked at the paper. "I know where that room is. Please follow me," Priya said kindly.

Priya walked with the woman down a long corridor. She showed her the meeting room on the third floor. "Here it is," Priya said. "Thank you very much. You are so kind," the woman replied. "My name is Sara." Priya smiled and said, "I am Priya. It was nice to meet you, Sara." Sara shook Priya's hand warmly. Later that day, Sara sent Priya a short email. The email said, "Thank you for helping me today. Small acts of kindness make a big difference." Priya read the email and felt happy. She learned that helping a stranger takes only a few minutes, but it can mean a lot. From that day on, Priya always looked for ways to help others in the office.

    The Unexpected Connection

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Priya had been working as an office coordinator for nearly three years, and she had grown accustomed to the hectic rhythm of her workplace. The open-plan office buzzed with constant activity—phones ringing, keyboards clicking, and colleagues rushing between meetings with stacks of documents in their arms. Although Priya's role involved handling schedules and organizing resources, she often found herself doing much more than her job description required. She had a natural ability to notice when things were not running smoothly, and she would quietly step in to fix problems before anyone else even noticed them. Despite the chaos that surrounded her on most days, she remained calm and approachable. On this particular morning, however, the office was even more frantic than usual because a major deadline was approaching.

Priya barely had time to finish her coffee before the first wave of urgent requests flooded her inbox. It was just after midday when Priya noticed an unfamiliar woman hovering near the reception area, clutching a folder and glancing nervously at the directory board on the wall. While dozens of employees hurried past without giving her a second glance, Priya could see that the woman was becoming increasingly frustrated. Setting aside the report she had been reviewing, Priya approached her and said, "You look like you might need some help finding your way around." The woman exhaled with visible relief and replied, "I cannot tell you how grateful I am that someone has finally noticed me. I have been standing here for fifteen minutes, and I am supposed to be in an interview on the seventh floor, but the lifts seem to require an access card." Priya immediately understood the problem, as the building's security system had been upgraded recently, which often confused first-time visitors. She offered to escort the woman personally, explaining, "The layout of this building can be quite confusing if you have never been here before, so let me walk you there myself." The woman, who introduced herself as Sara, thanked Priya repeatedly as they made their way to the lifts.

By the time Priya had guided Sara to the correct floor and wished her good luck, she realized that she had spent nearly twenty minutes away from her desk during one of the busiest days of the quarter. Surprisingly, rather than feeling stressed about the lost time, she felt a quiet sense of satisfaction that she had been able to make someone's difficult day a little easier. Later that afternoon, Priya received an unexpected message from Sara, who had not only been successful in her interview but had also been offered a position in the company. "I genuinely believe that your kindness set the tone for my entire afternoon," Sara had written. "If you had not helped me, I would have arrived late and flustered, and the outcome might have been completely different." Priya smiled as she read the message, struck by how a spontaneous decision to help a stranger had created a ripple effect she could never have anticipated. It reinforced something she had always believed: that even the smallest gesture of goodwill, offered without any expectation of return, has the power to transform someone's day in ways we may never fully understand.
