Kwame's Coffee Run at the Pharmacy Café

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Kwame pushes open the door of the pharmacy and is immediately hit by the rich smell of fresh coffee. Tucked into the back corner is a small café, and today it is packed with customers. The line stretches almost to the entrance, and the hum of conversation fills the room. Kwame joins the back of the line and studies the menu board hanging above the counter. There are more options than he expected, and he is still deciding when the woman ahead of him turns around. "If you like strong coffee, go for the cappuccino," she says with a friendly smile.

"It is the best thing they make here." Kwame thanks her and makes up his mind. When Kwame finally reaches the front, the server greets him with a polite but exhausted smile. "What can I get you?" she asks, her fingers already hovering over the touchscreen. "A large cappuccino, please," Kwame replies, "and could I add a cookie to that?" The server confirms the order and asks for his name before writing it on the side of the cup. She hands him a number card and says, "It should not be too long a wait." Kwame steps aside and finds a small space near the wall where he can stand while other customers continue to stream in behind him. The café grows louder by the minute, and Kwame checks his phone to pass the time.

After about five minutes, the server calls his name clearly above the noise. He collects his cappuccino and cookie from the counter, takes a careful sip, and is immediately glad he took the stranger's advice. The coffee is smooth, strong, and just hot enough.
