    Jin's Big Sports Day

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Jin walked into the sports center on a bright morning. The building was very big and modern. Jin looked around and saw a large swimming pool through the glass wall. There was also a gym with many machines inside. Jin was happy to be there. Today was a special day for Jin. Jin wanted to plan a sports event for the local community. It was going to be a fun day with games and activities for everyone. Jin went to the front desk and spoke to the receptionist. "Hello, I want to plan an event here," Jin said. The receptionist smiled and gave Jin a form. "Please fill in this form," she said. "Then we can talk about your plans." Jin took the form and sat down on a bench. Jin felt excited and a little nervous. Jin started to write on the form. First, Jin wrote the date for the event.

It was going to be in three weeks. Then Jin listed the activities. There was going to be a swimming race, a basketball game, and a running competition. Jin also wanted a table tennis tournament. Jin thought about the equipment they needed. They needed balls, nets, and prizes for the winners. "I need to make a list of everything," Jin said to himself. Jin also thought about food and drinks for the visitors. A friend called Mara worked at the sports center. Mara came over to Jin and sat down. "What are you working on?" Mara asked. "I am planning a community sports day," Jin answered. "That sounds wonderful! I can help you," Mara said. Jin smiled because help was very welcome. Jin and Mara worked together for the next hour.

They made a schedule for the day. The swimming race was first in the morning. The basketball game was after lunch. The running competition was the last event. "We need volunteers to help on the day," Mara said. "I can ask my friends," Jin replied. They also talked about how to tell people about the event. "We can put posters on the notice board," Jin suggested. Mara agreed and said she could also share the news online. Jin looked at the plan and felt proud. Everything was coming together nicely. "This is going to be a great day for everyone," Jin said. Mara nodded and said, "I think so too." Jin left the sports center that evening with a big smile. The planning was just the beginning, but Jin was ready.

    Jin's Plan Takes Shape

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Jin had been thinking about organizing a community sports day for several weeks, and finally the time had come to put the plan into action. Walking through the entrance of the local sports center, Jin noticed how busy the place was, with swimmers gliding through the pool and the steady rhythm of a fitness class echoing from the main hall. At the front desk, Jin greeted the center manager, a friendly woman named Suki, and explained the idea. "I've been wanting to bring people together through sport, and I think this venue would be perfect," Jin said with enthusiasm. Suki listened carefully and replied, "We haven't hosted a community event in a long time, so I think it's a brilliant idea." She offered to show Jin around the facilities so they could discuss which spaces would work best for different activities. As they walked past the indoor courts and the running track outside, Jin began to imagine how the day could unfold. By the time the tour was over, Jin felt more confident than ever that this plan could really succeed.

Over the following days, Jin returned to the sports center several times to work out the details. There were so many things to consider, from booking the courts to arranging equipment and finding enough people to help out on the day. Jin created a detailed schedule that included a morning warm-up session, a series of team sports in the afternoon, and a friendly relay race to close the event. "If we want people of all ages to enjoy themselves, we should offer a variety of activities," Jin explained to Mara, a colleague who had volunteered to assist with the preparations. Mara, who had experience running similar events, suggested setting up a registration table near the entrance so that participants could sign up easily. She also recommended asking local businesses to donate small prizes, which would encourage more people to take part. Jin appreciated Mara's practical suggestions because they helped turn a rough idea into a workable plan.

On the morning of the event, Jin arrived at the sports center earlier than anyone else and began setting up signs and arranging chairs in the welcome area. Volunteers soon started arriving, each one picking up a task without needing to be told what to do, which showed how well Jin had communicated the plan. By mid-morning, families and groups of friends were streaming through the doors, chatting excitedly about the activities on offer. "I can't believe how many people have turned up," Jin whispered to Mara, feeling a mixture of pride and relief. The swimming races went smoothly, the basketball matches were full of energy, and the relay race at the end of the day brought everyone together in cheers and laughter. As the last visitors left and the volunteers began tidying up, Suki walked over and said, "You should be proud of what you've achieved today." Jin looked around the sports center, tired but deeply satisfied, knowing that months of careful planning had been absolutely worth it.
