    Anya Borrows a Bag

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Anya worked in a small charity shop on a quiet street. She liked her job very much. Every day, people brought old things to the shop. The shop sold clothes, books, toys, and bags. Anya always smiled at the customers. She helped them find what they needed. One morning, Anya arrived at work early. She opened the door and turned on the lights. She looked around the shop. Everything was clean and tidy. Then she noticed something. There was a big box of new donations near the door. Someone left it there the night before. Anya was excited to see what was inside. She started to unpack the box carefully.

Anya's neighbor, Tom, also worked on the same street. He had a small food stall near the charity shop. Tom was a friendly man. He often visited Anya during his breaks. That day, Tom came into the shop at lunchtime. He looked worried. "Anya, I need your help," he said. "I have a problem." Anya stopped sorting clothes and looked at him. "What is wrong, Tom?" she asked. Tom explained his situation. "I need a large bag for my stall," he said. "I want to carry my things home today, but my bag is broken." He looked around the shop. "Can I borrow a bag from here?" he asked. Anya thought for a moment. Anya looked at the donations in the box.

She found a large, strong bag at the bottom. It was blue and in very good condition. "You can borrow this one," she said to Tom. "But please bring it back tomorrow." Tom was very happy. "Thank you so much, Anya!" he said. "You are a great neighbor." He took the bag and went back to his stall. Anya felt good about helping him. The next morning, Tom returned the bag. It was clean and looked like new. He also brought Anya some fresh fruit from his stall. "This is for you," he said with a big smile. "Thank you for lending me the bag." Anya laughed and accepted the fruit. "You are welcome, Tom," she said. "That is what good neighbors do." They both smiled and started their day.

    The Borrowed Display Stand

    Name: ______________________   Date: ____________

Anya had been managing a charity shop for almost two years, and she had grown quite fond of the little community that surrounded it. The shop occupied a bright corner space on a street lined with independent businesses, and Anya took pride in arranging the donated goods so that everything looked appealing. She had developed a talent for spotting hidden treasures among the second-hand items that arrived in boxes and bags each week. One Tuesday morning, while she was sorting through a fresh batch of donations, she heard a familiar voice at the door. It was her neighbor, Marco, who ran a small printing business two doors down. He was leaning against the doorframe, looking slightly anxious. "Anya, I was wondering if you could do me a favor," he said, stepping inside cautiously. She could tell from his expression that something was on his mind.

Marco explained that he was preparing for a busy week and needed a portable display stand to showcase some of his work to visiting clients. His own stand had collapsed the previous day, and he would not be able to get a replacement until the following week. "I noticed you have a couple of folding display stands in the back of your shop," he said, gesturing towards the storage area. "Would you be willing to lend me one for a few days?" Anya hesitated briefly, because the stands were used regularly for arranging featured items in the shop window. However, she remembered how Marco had helped her move heavy furniture into the shop several months ago without asking for anything in return. "Of course you can borrow one," she replied warmly. "Just make sure you return it by the weekend, because I will need it for a special promotion we are planning." Marco's face lit up with relief, and he thanked her repeatedly before carefully carrying the stand out of the shop. By the end of the week, Marco returned the display stand in perfect condition, along with a set of beautifully printed signs that he had designed specifically for the charity shop.

"I wanted to show my appreciation," he said, handing them over with a proud smile. "These should help attract more customers to your window displays." Anya was genuinely touched by the thoughtful gesture, as she had been meaning to update the shop's signage for months. She thanked him sincerely and immediately placed one of the signs in the front window. Over the following days, she noticed that more people were stopping to look at the display, and a few even mentioned the eye-catching signs as the reason they had walked in. The simple act of lending a display stand had strengthened their neighbourly bond and brought unexpected benefits to both of them. Anya reflected that generosity often has a way of coming back around when you least expect it.
