    What Are Prepositions of Time and Place?

    IN for longer periods (months, years, seasons). ON for days and dates. AT for exact times and set phrases.

    Tip

    Think of it as zooming in: IN (the biggest containers of time) → ON (specific days) → AT (the most precise points in time). The preposition gets more precise.

    Prepositions are small words that show the relationship between a noun and time or location. The most common ones are in, on, and at. Each has specific rules for time and place.

    On Saturday morning, we met at the bus stop at 9 o'clock.

    We sat on the bus and arrived in the city centre in about 30 minutes.

    We had lunch at a restaurant on the corner of Park Street.

    In the afternoon, we walked between the shops and sat among the flowers in the park.
