    Present Continuous for Future

    Present continuous for future = am/is/are + verb-ing. Use for fixed, arranged future plans with a time/place.

    I'm meeting her at 6pm.We're flying to Singapore on Friday.She's starting her new job on Monday.

    Key signal

    A future time expression is usually present: 'I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow.' Without a time word, it usually means now: 'I'm seeing a strange man.' (present)

    The present continuous tense can be used to talk about future arrangements that are fixed, planned, and usually involve other people. These are not just ideas or intentions, but concrete plans.

    On Wednesday, she's flying to Berlin for a conference. Her ticket is already booked.

    On Sunday, she isn't doing anything — she's resting at home all day!

    All of Emma's plans are fixed arrangements — that's why we use the present continuous for future!
